Hi Cassie, I know that you had been breeding Layanese Cats and had a litter that you were saying you were selling, about a year ago. Are you still raising them? You said that they were Designer Cats and there fore very expensive. If they become a recognized Breed will they get any cheaper? I would love to have the chance to own one or better yet help the breed but I'd never be able to afford even one. I really wish that could change someday!! How much are they going for now? Please email me back when you get a chance.I hope you are raising them and you and those babies are doing well! Maybe the breed will recognized and there will be more and then the price will lower. I'm almost 57yrs. old so I'll most likely be dead by then!!HA!HA! Thanks a lot for listening to me bitch (opps!) about it!!
Sincerely Yours, Robin Butterfield P.S.If you have a Website please let me know!!

I agree, I have a layanese Coco (sometimes referred to as King coco) and he is the most adorable, loving cat with a really big personality. He is vocal, cuddly and will follow you around like a puppy. Coco is great with everyone, no matter what age, especially if someone is down or sick almost has a sixth sense about it.

Ihave read lots of negative comments about it not being a breed but I would have to say these cats seem to have some consistent qualities that make them great pets so I believe it will have to be recognized eventually.

My siamese cat follows me everywhere around the house. He sleeps in my bed with me and he talks normally only to me. He also seems to forgive me more easily than others(ex. when I step on his tail). Do seal point siamese cats have that in common?

My partner and I have an 11 week old Layanese kitten. We called her Coco-Chanel because of the fact (she cost a heap) of the "designer" element. All that aside, I have to admit reading forums and sites have me wondering. Coco is absolutely gorgeous. She speaks to me constantly and has the most adorable nature. Yes, she is acting like a naughty little kitten. However, I know this little sweetheart will be a delight for as long as we love her. I am feeding her raw chicken and roo meat. She won't eat dry food or wet cat food. When we got he from the petshop she was not eating. Naturally there is a settling in period. By day 3 she was screaming for food, not her kibble that they suggested but food. I looked on her papers (not registered) and they were feeding her the raw to date. No wonder she was the runt of the little to the vet who looked at her. She has a great appetite and is putting on weight, active and exactly what I expected in a playful kitten. I do need help with her diet, I am concerned she will be too fat and / or the nutrition value may not be balanced.

Hi Cassie, I have a 4yo male Layanese and he is the most beautiful cat, he has an amazing nature, is affectionate, can be playful, is just a delight to own. I would love to touch base with you as I think this will be a breed to watch - regardless of what people say about their heritage - hey, we came from convicts!!

I have been breeding Layanese cats for two years now, and currently have a litter of four for sale at the momment. Yes Layanese are a still a new designer breed, but they are by far one of the most affectionate cats you will ever own. The sooner they become a recognised breed the better.

I think there are have also been attempts to produce an Ocelot / domestic hybrid (actually I may have read that on Messybeast's website). However, no firm evidence as yet, athough the crossing is thought to be possible. Given that Ocelots themselves seem to make good pets (Salvidor Dali had one), the results of a crossing should be quite pet suitable!

Layanese: Tonkinese / Himalayan

This is not a wild hybrid. The Tonkinese is a relative of the Siamese & Burmese. The Himalayan is a colourpoint Persian. This is a wholly domestic breed.

There is no such breed as the Oncicat. The 3 surviving oncilla/Aby hybrids (all female) were sterile. They were never develped as a breed and no breed name was assigned.
