Habari Cats

The Habari cat breed is a relatively new introduction. It is currently considered an experimental breed, and is unique among hybrid cat breeds for several reasons. First, it was developed solely for the domestic pet market. Also, the breed’s ancestry is a trade secret, and is based on DNA profiling, not pedigrees.

Although the Habari’s ancestry is not disclosed, it is believed that they are derived from Bengals and other domestic hybrid cats. They have been bred with a focus on large size, striking exotic markings, and a pleasant, “family pet” disposition.

Habari cats are quite large – females can grow to about 20 lbs., and males to about 25 lbs. The breed standard calls for strong, dark, rosettes and spots against a cream to gold-colored basecoat.

The temperament of Habaris has been described as “very sweet and affectionate.” They form a strong, loyal bond with their owners, make great lap cats, and are known for their head butts.

To date, very few Habari cats have been produced. The breed is still relatively rare, and prospective owners will most likely need to get on a waiting list.
